Aloysius (Al) Powderly started the business in 1970 with $3000.00 and a handshake from a local banker. His sons Patrick and Steve came onboard in the mid-1970s, while sons Tim and Greg joined the ranks in the early-1980s. Daughter Colleen rounded out the family team in the mid-1990s. Al passed in 2000, prompting the sons to purchase the business outright in order to ensure its continued excellence. Growth over the next 25 years rose exponentially due to the hard work of the 2nd generation, while always holding dear the values and ethics instilled by their father.

Today, SEMO Box Company employs upwards of 45 employees, ships coast-to-coast, and still delivers the same value-added quality box and customer service combination it did when the business opened its doors. One 3rd generation family member, Jake, has been full time with SEMO Box since 2019, ensuring the business will continue to thrive and hold onto its family roots for years to come.
